Dua for driving

A Dua for Safe Travels While Driving

Dua, or supplication, is an essential aspect of a Muslim’s faith and practice. It is a way to seek guidance, forgiveness, and blessings from Allah, and it is an act of worship that holds great significance in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Dua is worship,” indicating its weight and importance in the eyes of Allah.

There are specific duas for various occasions, one of which is the dua for driving. In today’s modern world, driving has become a common activity for many people, and it is crucial to seek the protection and blessings of Allah before embarking on any journey. The dua for driving is a way to acknowledge Allah’s control over our lives and to ask for His guidance and protection while on the road.

A dua for driving/travelling is as follows:

Arabic:
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration:
Subhana-alladhi sakh-khara la-na hadha wa ma kunna la-hu muqrinin. Wa inna ila Rabbi-na la munqalibun.
Translation:
“Glory unto Him Who created this transportation, for us, though we were unable to create it on our own. And unto our Lord we shall return.”

It is recommended to make this dua before starting a journey, as it serves as a means of seeking Allah’s protection while on the road. The dua reminds us of our dependence on Allah and acknowledges His control over all aspects of our lives, including our safety while driving.

Giving charity with a sincere intention is also a way to seek Allah’s blessings and assistance in our daily affairs, including safe travels while driving. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.”

By giving charity with a pure heart and intention, we can earn Allah’s favor and increase the likelihood of having our duas answered. The act of giving charity demonstrates our trust in Allah’s provision and mercy, and it is a way to show gratitude for the blessings that He has bestowed upon us. When we give charity, we are also helping those in need, and this selfless act is pleasing to Allah and can serve as a means of seeking His assistance and protection, including while driving.

The dua for driving is a powerful supplication that seeks protection and blessings from Allah while on the road. It is a reminder of our dependence on Allah and our need for His guidance and assistance in all aspects of our lives.

By making this dua and giving charity with a sincere intention, we can hope to receive Allah’s favor and protection while driving and in all our endeavors. May Allah grant us safety and protection on our journeys and accept our supplications and charitable deeds. Ameen.
