A Dua to say when Entering a House
In the Islamic tradition, making dua or supplication is a powerful and essential act for all believers. Dua is a means through which a person communicates with Allah, seeking His guidance, help, and blessings. It is an act of humility, dependence, and worship, and is a fundamental part of a Muslim’s daily life. One of the most important dua in the Islamic tradition is the dua for entering the home.
The dua for entering the home is a simple yet significant practice that holds immense value in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is a means of seeking protection and blessing for oneself and one’s family as they enter their place of dwelling. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of making dua at all times, especially when entering or exiting the home. It is narrated in a hadith that when a person enters their home and says the dua, the devil says to his companions, “There is no shelter for you here tonight.” This highlights the protective nature of this dua and its significance in warding off evil and seeking Allah’s blessings.

Transliteration:
Bismil-lahi walajna, wabismil-lahi kharajna, waAAala rabbina tawakkalna.

“In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.”
The dua for entering the home serves as a reminder for Muslims to begin their actions with the name of Allah, signifying their reliance and trust in Him. It also acts as a means of seeking Allah’s protection for the inhabitants of the home and serves as a recognition of His blessings upon them. Reciting this dua not only fulfills the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) but also brings about a sense of mindfulness and gratitude for the provisions and shelter provided by Allah.
In addition to reciting the dua for entering the home, it is important for Muslims to understand the significance of having sincere intentions and actions. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of giving charity with a pure and sincere intention. Giving charity with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure and blessings can elevate a person’s dua and increase the likelihood of it being accepted. The act of charity is a means of purifying one’s wealth and seeking the forgiveness and favor of Allah.
